Sina Tech News, morning of September 29 — There are reports that Insta360 is developing smart glasses focused on shooting. Unlike most AI glasses on the market that use voice AI assistants as their core selling point, this product prioritizes content creators’ needs for convenient, high-quality, hands-free capture.
A source familiar with the matter said: “Insta360’s product may adopt a replaceable front frame design, with key functions concentrated in the temple arms. Users can swap frames according to different scenarios or styling, making smart glasses closer to the consumption logic of traditional eyewear.” This is consistent with Insta360’s previously granted utility model patent for “wearable glasses.” The patent abstract shows that the glasses body is worn on the head, while the battery unit is separated from the glasses body and worn on another part of the body, connected by a power cable, with the goal of “reducing head load and easing pressure during long-term wear.”
Previously, a person close to Insta360 confirmed to Sina Tech that the AI glasses product will be launched, saying it is currently under development and already has a prototype.
In terms of AI capabilities, Insta360 is likely to integrate Alibaba’s Qwen large language model. An Insta360 insider revealed: “The company’s core AI direction in the future is how to deploy on-device generative models directly onto Insta360 products. In addition, Insta360 is also developing new products beyond existing product forms.”
