Report: Shipping in the Strait of Hormuz Remains Weak
Cross-border information2026-4-18

According to a report by CNN, although Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is "completely open," only a few ships passed through the strait today.

Ship tracking data shows that currently no oil tankers are leaving the Persian Gulf, with only 5 cargo ships and 1 specialized tanker transporting heated asphalt or tar entering the Gulf of Oman.

In addition to the aforementioned few ships, a cruise ship took the risk of crossing the strait earlier today.

Earlier this afternoon local time, nearly 20 bulk carriers and oil tankers (including several very large crude oil carriers) formed a loose fleet and headed towards this narrow waterway. However, about four hours after departure, all ships seemed to have returned. (This article is from Yicai)
