AMZ123 has learned that Amazon will officially launch its first distribution center (DC) in Spain, ZAZ8, on September 7, 2026. Located in the Centrovía industrial park in La Muela, Zaragoza, the facility involves a total investment of 100 million euros, with 30 million euros allocated to upgrading existing structures. It covers an area of approximately 30,000 square meters.

The center will initially employ around 100 staff members, expanding to 300 during peak seasons, and is expected to reach a peak workforce of 600 within three years. It will receive around 35 truckloads of goods daily. ZAZ8 will focus on storing high-frequency essential household products such as personal care items, baby food, formula milk, wet wipes, and nutritional supplements, improving fulfillment efficiency for the Aragon region and across Spain via Barcelona. It will also serve as a strategic inventory hub, providing replenishment support for other FCM and IXD nodes in Spain.

The site was originally planned as a 140,000-square-meter returns center, which Amazon suspended in 2023. Now repurposed as a compact, specialized high-frequency distribution center, it integrates with the area’s existing IXD, Amazon Fresh, and delivery station network, bringing Amazon’s total workforce in Aragon to over 1,000 employees.

Leveraging more than 400 local small and medium-sized sellers, Amazon continues to enhance its regional logistics infrastructure and e-commerce ecosystem. Data shows that exports by local sellers reached 35 million euros in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 50%. This move aligns with Amazon's broader fulfillment upgrade strategy in Spain, which includes achieving 190 million same-day or next-day deliveries and saving Prime members an average of 120 euros annually on shipping costs by 2025.
