October 19 news: DeepSeek issued an announcement on October 18 stating that the DeepSeek API now supports web search and fetching, billed by request count at 5 yuan per 1,000 successful requests.

The announcement stated that users currently using the DeepSeek API in DeepSeek Harness / Claude Code / Codex already have access to the Search / Fetch interfaces through server-side tool calls. These Search / Fetch interface calls are currently not billed and will be charged per call starting at 00:00 Beijing time on November 1, 2026.

DeepSeek announced on October 17 that the Search / Fetch API has officially launched. Both interfaces use DeepSeek's self-developed search engine to provide real-time web content for Agent and RAG applications.

The Search interface searches web pages by query and returns structured results, while the Fetch interface fetches a single web page and returns the title and body as Markdown text. Both are raw JSON APIs with Base URL api.deepseek.com and use the same Bearer authentication as the DeepSeek API.
