On January 21, according to the "2025 Online Retail Report" released by the independent business consulting firm FTI Consulting, Brazil's e-commerce market is expected to achieve sales of 381 billion reais (approximately 494.1 billion yuan) by 2025, a year-on-year increase of 11.8%, significantly higher than the global average of 8.4%. The proportion of e-commerce sales in Brazil's total retail sales increased from 8.62% to 9.03%, and the importance of digital channel consumption continues to strengthen.

Market growth is mainly driven by three major factors: the Pix instant payment system has covered 70% of Brazil's population, reshaping the payment landscape; international e-commerce platforms (such as Walmart, Amazon, Shopee, etc.) and local leader MercadoLibre continue to increase investment; the penetration rate of social e-commerce is as high as 77%, and platforms like TikTok Shop promote the formation of "browse and buy" consumption habits. The Brazilian Association of Artificial Intelligence and E-commerce predicts that the market is expected to continue growing by 10% in 2026, reaching approximately 335.7 billion yuan.

It is worth noting that market competition has shifted from incremental beachhead to inventory competition. Although MercadoLibre still occupies the leading position locally, international platforms such as Shopee, Temu, and Shein compete fiercely through price wars, logistics optimization, and marketing investment (for example, the three platforms invested a total of more than 56 million reais in the 2025 9.9 Shopping Festival). Temu briefly topped the list in July 2025 with 409.7 million monthly visits, showing that the competitive landscape is changing rapidly. MercadoLibre has also consolidated its market position through measures such as lowering logistics freight in 12 northern states (with the highest reduction of 55%).
