Recently, Amazon reminded sellers: if you receive a virtual identity verification notice, complete verification within 14 days.
For most sellers, the first reaction may be: "Is my account in trouble?" "Did I violate rules?" "Will my store be suspended?"
In fact, receiving this notice does not mean your account has violated rules. Amazon says this verification is mainly to further confirm the seller's identity and account operating information.
However, pay attention to the deadline: after receiving the notice, sellers usually have only 14 days to complete verification. Some accounts may have no grace period and must complete verification immediately to restore selling. If verification is not completed on time, the account may be suspended.
1. The notice is not a violation, but do not delay
Virtual identity verification is not a "violation judgment," but an identity confirmation. Amazon needs to further confirm:
- Who is the legal representative registered on the store?
- Who is the actual operator?
- Is the company's registered address real?
- Does the actual business address match the account information?
- Does the payment entity match the registration information?
- Does the store involve buying, selling, affiliation, or leasing?
Especially when the legal representative does not participate in daily operations and an operations team runs the store, Amazon may require proof of the relationship between them. So do not panic; quickly check your account information and materials. What you must not do is delay. Amazon emphasized that sellers usually have 14 days; some accounts may have no grace period. If the deadline passes, selling privileges may be affected.
2. Amazon alerts sellers through three channels
Many sellers' biggest risk is not lacking materials, but not seeing the notice. Check at least these three places:
- Email: Amazon sends notices to the email registered with the seller account. Make sure it can receive mail normally.
- Seller Central "Account Health": Go to Account Health → Manage Account Health → Performance Notifications to check for pending verification notices.
- Account Health page reminders: Amazon has added risk alerts at the top of the Account Health page, and the "Priority Actions" module shows remaining processing time.

3. What materials are required?
Identity verification is not just uploading an ID. Amazon focuses on whether the account entity, actual operations, payment information, and business authenticity correspond.
- Legal representative's ID: The legal representative must attend the video verification in person and prepare the ID used at registration, such as a Chinese mainland ID, Hong Kong/Macau return permit, Taiwan compatriot permit, or passport. It must clearly show full name, date of birth, document number, validity period, holder's signature (if applicable), and issuing country/region or nationality.
- Business registration documents: Business sellers need documents such as a Chinese mainland business license or Hong Kong company registration documents. They must clearly show owner/legal representative name, business name, license/registration number, office address, establishment date, business status, legal representative signature, and issuing authority seal or stamp.
- Proof of relationship if the legal representative does not operate the store: Provide materials such as social security payment records, payroll records, labor contract, marriage certificate (if applicable), household relationship proof (if applicable), or other direct proof.
- Bank statements and payment information: Bank account statements within 180 days for the Amazon receiving account, and credit card statements within 180 days for the registered payment card.
- Supply chain materials: In some cases, provide invoices or receipts related to the ASIN. They should clearly show product description, quantity, supplier name, phone number, address, and website. Price information may be hidden, but other key information must remain clear.
Documents submitted to Amazon must not be covered or damaged, must be authentic and unmodified. Never use Photoshop or alter documents, and do not include markings or annotations on photos.
On verification day, prepare these details in advance:
- Ensure a stable internet connection.
- Choose a quiet, well-lit environment; no unrelated persons should appear.
- Check the front camera, microphone, and headset in advance.
- Use the browser required by Amazon: Safari on Mac, or Google Chrome on other systems.
A practical tip: prepare both electronic and printed copies of all materials, so you can show originals on-site or upload files quickly.
Verification usually takes 10-60 minutes; review usually takes 5 business days. Results are sent by email and performance notifications.
Even if you have not received a virtual identity verification notice, do a self-check in advance:
- Is the legal representative information accurate?
- Is the business license valid?
- Does the registered address need updating?
- Does the receiving account match the entity?
- Does the actual operator have proof of relationship?
- Are supply chain invoices retained?
- Can the registered email receive Amazon emails normally?
When the verification notice arrives, 14 days may seem long, but if materials or personnel need to be found or information is inconsistent, time is tight. Amazon also reminds sellers that account review and identity verification processes vary by account and site, so follow the actual notice in Seller Central.
