Etsy Announces a Complete Ban on the Sale of Animal Fur
Cross-border information2026-4-8

Etsy, the American handmade crafts e-commerce platform, has announced that it will completely ban the sale of all animal fur products on its platform starting from August 11, 2026, including raw furs, finished garments and accessories decorated with fur, regardless of their source or age.

This regulation is part of its "continuous efforts to promote biodiversity conservation", but does not include by-products such as leather, wool, sheepskin and mohair, nor will it change its existing ban on products from endangered species. This policy adjustment is related to the continuous global pressure from the anti-fur organization "Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade" (CAFT) for several months, including interrupting the speeches of Etsy executives at industry conferences.

The ban has sparked controversy among sellers, and some sellers who sell vintage clothing believe that its "one-size-fits-all" approach ignores the value of "secondary use".

Overall, this move reflects the tightening trend of e-commerce platforms on environmental protection and social responsibility issues.
