AMZ123 has learned that since early August, a large number of WhatsApp users have encountered abnormal account bans without using third-party modified apps, running bulk messaging software, or conducting spam marketing operations. When logging in, users see prompts such as “This account cannot use WhatsApp” or “Under review for 24 hours.” Meta has responded that the anti-abuse system may have misjudged some cases, and accounts confirmed to be wrongly banned will be reviewed and restored as soon as possible, but the specific affected scale and regional distribution have not yet been disclosed.
Banned users who see the “Solicitar análise (Request Review)” button can submit one review request, and each account has only one chance; if the button is not displayed, the account may face a permanent ban. Meta also reminded users to avoid trusting paid unbanning and related black-market services.
For accounts involved in foreign trade customer communication and cross-border business, it is recommended to back up chat records regularly and avoid using unofficial modified apps such as GB WhatsApp and automation tools to reduce the risk of triggering risk controls.
This large-scale wave of mistaken account bans reflects that Meta still has room to adjust its algorithm balance between combating violations and protecting normal user access. For Chinese cross-border sellers who rely heavily on WhatsApp to reach overseas customers, the account asset risk of a single instant messaging channel has drawn attention again.
Seller Home Review
WhatsApp's ban wave has affected cross-border sellers' private traffic pools. Although Meta promised review, it did not specify a timeline, and account recovery remains uncertain. Sellers are advised to immediately back up core customer contacts, set up backup communication channels across multiple platforms, and reduce reliance on a single social messaging tool.
