AMZ123 has learned that Amazon will officially launch its AWD (Amazon Warehousing & Distribution) bulk warehousing service in five core European markets—Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom—on August 20, and will replicate the “satellite warehouse backstop + FBA front-end fulfillment” model, which has already proven mature in the U.S. market, across Europe.
With this service, sellers can store large-volume shipments in AWD warehouses at lower cost. The platform will use machine learning to forecast market demand at different stages, and support automatic or manual inventory transfers to FBA fulfillment centers in each country, effectively reducing the impact of insufficient peak-season storage capacity and high storage fees.
The launch not only provides European sellers with a low-cost way to expand storage capacity and an automatic replenishment channel similar to the U.S. market, but also shortens replenishment time to 3–7 days. This means that, through infrastructure upgrades, Amazon is gradually integrating Europe’s decentralized warehousing network into a unified smart inventory pool, helping cross-border sellers cope with the peak holiday season in the second half of the year with more stable supply chain capabilities.
Seller’s Home Review
The simultaneous launch of AWD in five European countries means that sellers can use machine learning to achieve automatic inventory transfer, significantly easing peak-season stocking pressure. It is advisable to pay attention to the practical benefit of replenishment time shortened from two weeks to 3–7 days, and to prioritize calculating the combined cost of existing FBA first-leg shipping and AWD in order to optimize inventory turnover efficiency in Europe.
