TikTok Shop Plans to Launch in Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Australia in Q1 2027

AMZ123 has learned that TikTok Shop is reportedly set to open three new sites in Q1 2027: Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Australia. These correspond to three distinct ecosystems — “high average order value with low penetration in the Middle East, mature e-commerce driven by K-culture, and English-speaking high-net-worth markets with low competition in Australia/New Zealand.” Saudi Arabia has 28 million monthly active users and only about 10% e-commerce penetration; beauty sales surge 300% month-on-month during Ramadan, but barriers like SASO certification and 15% VAT are high. The market suits a model of fully-managed/direct shipping product testing + Arabic livestreaming + standard products. South Korea’s annual e-commerce transactions exceed 150 billion dollars, K-beauty sold 2 billion dollars in the US in half a year, and TikTok K-beauty topics generate 250 million weekly views. Platform strategy may follow Japan’s progress; white-label mass distribution cannot rival local brands, so a branding approach leveraging the Korean wave with native Korean content is essential. In Australia, TikTok ads can reach 10.9 million people with a per capita GDP over 60,000 dollars; English content can reuse US/UK assets, and spending 50,000–100,000 dollars per month can push sellers into the top tier. It is suitable for small and medium teams to test mid-to-high-end home, outdoor, and health products with a light-asset approach. What all three markets share is “high barriers, low competition, and first-mover content dividends.” Sellers should prepare along four lines: “supply chain product testing model + performance-based influencer collaboration + localized compliance (GCC/KC/ABN) + no all-in,” treating new sites as an extension of omnichannel operations rather than a shortcut to quick riches.

Although the Saudi, South Korean, and Australian sites are expected to open only in 2027, the high barriers and low competition mean the early-mover window is rare. Sellers are advised to immediately prepare along the three lines of product testing, influencers, and compliance while staying restrained and not going all-in. Prioritize validating models on existing sites to gain a first-mover advantage in the new markets.
