Countdown to Compliance! Previously, many sellers on the European platform received VAT verification notices from Italy, which clearly mentioned "resolve by November 6, 2025". There is not much time left for sellers, and those who have received the notice need to handle it promptly.

According to sellers' sharing, this verification mainly involves uploading the "correct" tax number address, that is, the tax number address bound when registering the tax number through a tax agent must be consistent with the corresponding address in the seller's backend. Sellers can complete the verification as required without excessive tension. However, it is still necessary to complete the verification on time, otherwise it may affect the sales authority.

In addition to Italian VAT verification, many sellers have also received email notifications from Amazon requesting the provision of Italian VAT tax numbers, with a processing period of 60 days. Failure to complete compliance within the specified time may result in account suspension and other situations.

How should sellers who receive the email respond?
First, confirm whether you need to register an Italian VAT tax number. Amazon's request for an Italian tax number is mainly based on the following situations:
① Having storage in Italy
Sellers who store goods in Italy through self-built warehouses, third-party warehousing, or Amazon FBA warehouses, regardless of the actual sales amount, must fulfill the registration obligation.
② Remote sales exceeding the threshold
Sellers who conduct remote sales from other EU member states to Italian consumers, and the annual sales amount exceeds 10,000 euros, and have not declared through the EU One-Stop Service (OSS), need to complete the registration.
③ Participating in the Pan-European Program
Sellers who have joined Amazon's Pan-European Program and have enabled inventory configuration in the Italian region also need to have a valid Italian VAT tax number.
If the above situations exist, you need to register and submit the Italian VAT tax number in the Amazon backend to meet the compliance requirements. If you confirm that your situation does not require the registration of an Italian VAT tax number, you can choose to close the Italian storage in the Amazon backend to avoid this requirement.
It should be noted that the Italian tax environment is complex. For example, the 50,000 euro deposit that caused a sensation in the cross-border circle previously. It is recommended that eligible sellers seek the assistance of professional and reliable tax institutions. Jide has passed Amazon's strict audit and selection, won the trust and recognition of the platform, successfully settled in as an Amazon SPN service provider, and can provide global VAT services for sellers. Italian WEEE Mandatory Compliance!
Italy can be said to have stirred up the "nest" of compliance, with VAT recently and WEEE in the distance. A large number of sellers have received Amazon's notice requiring the completion of Italian WEEE compliance requirements, with a compliance deadline of December 31, 2025. If not registered and submitted before this date, Amazon will automatically register for withholding and payment services.

The notice gives specific time nodes and covered categories:
December 31, 2025: The waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) sold in 2025 needs to provide a valid EPR registration number.
March 30, 2026: Quarterly sales of batteries, polyethylene, oils, packaging (only for non-Italian company registered sellers) and tires need to be registered.
Exception: Sellers who sell mineral oils or are located in Italy and sell packaged goods need to comply with Italian regulations on their own, and Amazon does not provide payment services.
How to determine if you need to register Italian WEEE?
WEEE is the abbreviation for the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, which is a mandatory regulation formulated by the EU to standardize the recycling and processing of electronic and electrical products. Italy has refined it into a mandatory recycling system through relevant regulations, requiring all enterprises selling electronic and electrical equipment to the Italian market (including manufacturers, importers, distributors, etc.) to fulfill the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations, specifically as follows:
Non-EU companies sell electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE) directly to Italian consumers through e-commerce platforms such as Amazon
Merchants reselling electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE) products under their own brands within the EU
Sellers reselling electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE) without manufacturer information marked
Importers who first introduce third-country electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE) products into the EU market.
If you meet any of the above situations, you need to register for Italian WEEE. Although there is still some time before the compliance deadline, considering the registration period and the possible crowding registration in the later stage, it is recommended that eligible sellers arrange as soon as possible to avoid affecting store sales due to failure to complete compliance before December 31.
Written at the end
The European market cannot do without VAT, EPR, GPSR, European/UK agents and other compliance requirements. Sellers who want to successfully mine gold must pay attention, otherwise they will face consequences such as product removal, sales ban, and high fines.
