Amazon Holiday Return Window Extended to January 31, 2027, Now a Permanent Annual Policy
AMZ123 Cross-border Newsletter2026-10-28

AMZ123 has learned that Amazon officially announced its extended holiday return policy for 2026. Items purchased between November 1 and December 31 will have their return deadline extended to January 31, 2027, while Apple-brand products will have a return deadline of January 15. The policy automatically applies to seller-fulfilled and FBA orders, with no separate application required from sellers.

Amazon stated that the move aims to boost consumer appeal during the year-end shopping season, and for the first time clearly informed sellers that the policy will be repeated every year, rather than waiting until autumn to announce it separately as before. In 2022, Amazon abruptly announced its return policy only close to the holiday shopping season, triggering strong backlash from sellers; in the following years, the policy has been consistently implemented starting November 1. Previously, Walmart also announced that it would extend the return window for most items to January 31, 2027.

Seller Home Review

The extended return window directly lengthens the capital occupation cycle for sellers. It is recommended to estimate return rates and cash flow pressure in advance. Apple-brand items have a separate January 15 deadline, which should be clearly communicated in listings and customer service scripts to avoid disputes.
