AMZ123 has learned that eBay Australia recently launched an AI listing tool. Sellers only need to take a few photos of unused clothing with their phones, and the AI can automatically generate product titles, pricing, and shipping information. It also provides intelligent photo guidance, background removal, and image quality optimization, shortening the traditionally cumbersome second-hand listing creation process to "ready to publish once shooting is complete." Combined with the commission-free policy for annual sales below $25,000, the tool further lowers the barrier for ordinary users to participate in second-hand transactions.
This feature addresses the issue that 74% of Australian consumers consider listing items too time-consuming, reflecting that the local "resale-ready" consumer trend is strengthening. Survey data from eBay and YouGov show that 93% of frequent resale users have begun considering the future resale value of items when shopping, 33% of high-net-worth consumers are more inclined to buy designer brands because of their "resaleability," and 70% of consumers are more loyal to brands with strong value retention. Last year, Australian consumers earned an average of A$300 simply by reselling idle fashion items online, with women's bags, dresses, men's shirts, and sneakers becoming categories with high turnover.
eBay hopes to use AI tools to transform the consumer mindset of "considering future resale when purchasing" into actual product supply. However, some parts and accessories categories do not yet support the feature. The move also shows that competition in the second-hand e-commerce industry is gradually shifting from traffic acquisition to building intelligent supply-side capabilities.
Seller Home Review
The AI listing tool directly targets the pain point of second-hand listing. Photo capture automatically generates titles and pricing, significantly reducing operation time. Combined with the commission-free policy for annual sales below $25,000, sellers are advised to prioritize testing low-ticket idle categories to verify conversion efficiency at a low barrier.
