AMZ123 has learned that Piper Sandler's 26th annual teen survey shows that in fall 2026, U.S. teen spending increased 6% year over year, with spending by teens from high-income households up 11%, per capita annual spending of about $2,350, and total group spending of about $65 billion. Apparel spending rose 7%, with girls' apparel spending up 10%, while footwear spending fell 1%. The share of sports brands such as Nike, adidas, and lululemon in the teen fashion space declined from 32% to 29%, compared with 44% three years ago. Willingness to buy through secondhand channels continued to rise, and 44% of high-income teens have purchased secondhand clothing. In online channels, Amazon accounted for about half of high-income teens' online spending, while other platforms each held single-digit shares. Beauty spending rose 7%, reaching a 23% wallet share, a record high, and Korean skincare brand Medicube entered the top 10 for the first time.
SellerHome Comment
U.S. teen consumption is recovering and Amazon accounts for nearly half of their online spending, making it a traffic pool cross-border sellers cannot ignore. Sellers are advised to prioritize beauty categories favored by high-income households and strengthen differentiated sportswear selection on Amazon to counter the share decline.
