Google Launches Universal Shopping Cart, Connecting Search and Gemini Shopping Experience
AMZ123 Cross-border Newsletter2026-10-16

AMZ123 has learned that Google has officially launched Universal Cart in the United States, available across Search and the Gemini app. The cart brings products from different retailers together in a single interface, allowing users to save items across sites, track price drops, get promo codes, and receive payment method suggestions. Users can either check out directly through Google Pay or be directed to merchant websites to complete their purchase.

Universal Cart relies on more than 60 billion continuously updated product records in Google's Shopping Graph to send price-drop and restock reminders in the background. In addition, the feature uses Google Wallet to identify users' credit card benefits and help them choose more cost-effective payment methods. Universal Cart is built on the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), with initial partners including Nike, Sephora, Target, and Ulta Beauty. For sellers running Google Shopping ads, this feature provides a new entry point to reach U.S. consumers.

Seller's Home Review

Google Universal Cart leverages 60 billion product records to connect search and AI shopping entry points. Independent site sellers should prioritize connecting their product feeds to Google Merchant Center; otherwise, they may miss out on this new wave of cross-site traffic and checkout opportunities.
