New Policy! Amazon to Launch Listing Protection Mechanism! Non-Compliant Listings May Continue to Sell

For Amazon sellers, one of the biggest fears is having a listing that is generating steady sales suddenly flagged for a policy violation and then suspended or removed.

Especially during peak seasons, when a core link suddenly cannot be sold, the loss is not just that day’s orders; it may also disrupt the entire operational plan.

However, Amazon is trying to change how product violations are handled. At this year’s Amazon Accelerate conference, Amazon announced a new mechanism:Listing Protection.

The core change of this mechanism is: in most cases, after a product is determined to have a violation, the listing does not need to be taken down immediately. Sellers can continue selling during Amazon’s review, reducing order losses caused by product suspension.

1. Amazon Launches Listing Protection: What Does It Mean for Sellers?

From September 22 to 24, 2026, Amazon’s annual seller conference Accelerate was held in Seattle. The focus of this year’s event was AI-related news. But in Amazon’s official post-event recap, there was one message described as “the least noticeable, yet most significant”:a new mechanism called Listing Protection.

Amazon positions it as adding more due process to the account health system—giving sellers more complete handling and appeal space during the penalty process.

Amazon’s official statement is: when a product is flagged for a violation, the listing will remain available for sale while the seller resolves the issue, with clear processing steps and an appeal channel for incorrect determinations.

The vice president responsible for account health and store integrity said that in most cases, listings will remain active until Amazon makes a decision, allowing the seller’s business to continue operating during the review.

What are the main impacts of this mechanism on sellers?

1. After a product is flagged, the listing will not be taken down directly.

If a link that has been generating steady orders suddenly cannot be sold, the impact often goes beyond temporarily losing a few orders. Once the product is delisted, advertising may be affected, users cannot place orders normally, and sellers also need to spend time investigating issues, preparing documents, and submitting appeals.

If the product can remain online during the review, sellers have a chance to reduce these losses. This is especially meaningful for sellers that rely on a few core ASINs for sales.

2. When the platform makes an incorrect determination, sellers have an opportunity to raise objections.

Amazon’s product compliance management involves multiple steps, including product information, qualification documents, policy requirements, and system reviews. When sellers believe the platform’s determination is wrong, having an effective review channel is very important. The Listing Protection mechanism emphasizes clear handling steps and the opportunity to dispute incorrect determinations.

3. Not all sellers can use it.

This is the most critical point. The officially stated eligible users are AHA sellers.

AHA is a benefit launched by Amazon for professional sellers with consistently good account performance. The entry threshold is: maintain an Account Health Rating (AHR) of at least 250 points for 6 months, with no more than 10 days below 250 during that period. Eligible sellers are automatically enrolled.

In terms of rollout timing, the U.S. marketplace is expected to cover AHA sellers by the end of 2026, expanding globally in 2027. In other words, the higher your account health score, the more likely you are to benefit from this protection mechanism.

2. Sellers Also Need to Pay Attention to the Seller Challenge Appeal Mechanism

If Listing Protection focuses mainly on whether a product can remain online during review, then Seller Challenge focuses on whether sellers can obtain further review when they believe Amazon’s product policy determination is wrong.

According to the rules announced so far, eligible AHA sellers, after completing the standard appeal process, can initiate a Seller Challenge against eligible product-level policy determinations.

The main rules of this mechanism are as follows:

Eligible users:eligible AHA sellers

Frequency limit:3 challenges every 180 days, applicable to eligible product-level determinations

Review method:reviewed by a trained team; Amazon aims to issue a decision within 48 hours

Additional materials:supporting materials can be submitted to help the review team understand the specific situation

Result:if the determination is overturned, the relevant listing can be restored, subject to the review result

One reminder for sellers: the policy details above currently come mainly from conference announcements.

For now, the specific applicable scope, implementation details, and rollout progress of these mechanisms should still be based on Amazon’s subsequent official policies and seller platform notifications. We will continue to monitor related updates and provide timely interpretation for sellers.
